Thank you for reading! Summer is so close, and like usual, I’m waiting until the last minute to send out my seasonal newsletter. 

I just received the ARC (Advance Reader Copy) for How to Rescue a Unicorn, and I love the cover - once again illustrated by Garth Laidlaw, who created the cover for How to Kidnap a Mermaid. The ARC is the almost, final version of a book which is sent out to reviewers and media in hopes they’ll give Tiny Wilde a mention. The ARC is also the last chance I will get to read the book and fix any mistakes (hopefully not too many) before it’s published. Of course, Olive has her on eye reading it too. • Funny Pages Festival •

This was my first festival as an author and it couldn’t have been a better experience. The passion and commitment from the Funny Pages crew was infectious, but most of all, the kids had a terrific time. Held at the Halifax Public Library, local students were bussed in from all over the city for a day of author presentations and fun.

• School visits •

May was a busy month for school visits! I had a blast talking with over 20 classes in Yarmouth County and Annapolis Royal about Heroes and Villains. Now it's time to finish How to Wrestle an Octopus, book 3 of my middle-grade fantasy series, and also prep for the August release of book 2, How to Rescue a Unicorn.

• Bookstore signings •

On a trip to my home province of BC, I visited a number of bookstores on Vancouver Island and the mainland, including the charming and delightful Kidsbooks, to sign copies of How to Kidnap a Mermaid. Thanks to Daphne and the wonderful staff for supporting Canadian authors!

• Adventures with cats•

One of our cats, usually Olive, insists on a visit to my office while I’m working. Occasionally, she will have an opinion on story structure or grammar usage, but mostly she likes to catch a few rays.
